ODM Period Underwear: Adapt a Development Pattern
Adapt a development pattern for your brand.
What ODM means for a period underwear project
ODM starts from a development pattern rather than a finished stock catalogue. The base pattern gives the project a tested starting point, while fit, fabric, gusset construction, branding and size range are adapted to the buyer brief.
What can be adapted
| Area | Typical ODM change | What needs review |
|---|---|---|
| Fit | Rise, coverage, leg opening and waistband | Pattern change and fit sample |
| Gusset | Layer stack, coverage and barrier direction | New construction review and testing |
| Materials | Shell, lining, elastic, lace or mesh | Stretch, shrinkage and wash behaviour |
| Branding | Labels, colours, prints and packaging | Approved artwork and production reference |
| Sizing | Base grade, extended sizes or a new size chart | Gusset grading and extreme-size fit |
What must be revalidated after a change
A visual change is not always a construction-neutral change. A new shell can alter stretch and gusset flatness. A different barrier can change bulk and wash performance. A new print can change handfeel. If the intended claim depends on those changes, the finished sample and document scope should be reviewed again.
A practical ODM route
- Select a development silhouette that is close to the intended product.
- Mark the fit, materials and gusset changes clearly.
- Approve a fit sample before investing in packaging artwork.
- Agree the claim and test plan for the final construction.
- Approve the PP sample and retain the production standard.
ODM period underwear questions
Is ODM development the same as a stock programme?
No. ODM development adapts a pattern and specification to the buyer’s brand and project; it is not a finished stock item.
Can we change the gusset construction?
Yes, but the new layer stack, barrier and coverage need their own sample review and test plan.
Can the ODM pattern become exclusive to our brand?
Exclusivity and pattern ownership need to be agreed in the commercial contract. Do not assume exclusivity from a product page.
Have a style in mind?
Send a sketch, tech pack or reference garment. We will reply with a development route.
