Period Underwear Tech Packs & Development Specifications
Turn a reference garment, sketch or product idea into a production-ready period underwear tech pack that pattern, sampling and quality teams can use.
What a useful tech pack contains
A period underwear tech pack has to communicate more than a silhouette. It needs to show the outer garment, the gusset cross-section, the order in which layers are joined, and how the product should perform after washing. Missing any one of those leaves the sample team to guess.
Core sections
| Section | What it should define |
|---|---|
| Overview | Product type, target customer, flow level and size range |
| Flats | Front, back, side and top views with measurements |
| Gusset | Layer sequence, coverage, materials and edge method |
| Materials | Shell, lining, core, barrier, trims and adhesives |
| Construction | Seams, stitches, bonding, fold and finish |
| Branding | Labels, prints, hangtags, barcode and packaging |
| Quality | Measurement points, workmanship and test plan |
The performance brief
Include the intended wear scenario and the claims you want to make. If the product must support an overnight claim, a certain wash cycle or a PFAS-free statement, that should be visible in the tech pack and the sampling plan. The specification is not only a design document; it is the starting point for testing and production approval.
When you already have a tech pack
Our team can review an existing pack for gaps before sampling. Common issues include no gusset cross-section, inconsistent measurement points, no care instructions, unclear seam allowance or artwork that does not match the proposed label claim. We mark the gaps and agree what needs to be resolved.
Outcome
The finished pack becomes the shared reference for pattern making, material sourcing, sample comments, production inspection and packaging. A clear pack reduces the number of sample rounds and makes it easier to compare quotations from different suppliers.

Frequently asked questions
Can you create a tech pack from a sketch?
Yes. A sketch, reference garment or detailed brief can provide the starting point. The tech pack is refined during sampling.
Do I need a tech pack for an ODM style?
A full pack may not be needed if you start from an existing base, but you still need a specification for fabric, gusset, sizing, trims and branding.
Will the tech pack guarantee a perfect first sample?
No. Sampling is a development step. The tech pack reduces ambiguity, but fit and performance still need to be reviewed on the physical sample.
