Packaging direction · final artwork to brief

The Drawstring Period Swim Short reference, LJ-Jan-TG513, adds an adjustable waist to a swim-short silhouette. The drawstring is not just a decorative detail: it changes how the waist fits, how the garment is put on and how the gusset stays positioned during movement.

Adjustable swim short with drawstring detail. Suitable for sport or holiday collections that need coordinated swim gusset construction.

What the brief should settle

  • Waistband construction: elastic, channel, cord exit and hardware.
  • Drawstring length, cord type, colour and replacement plan.
  • Rise, leg length and seat coverage.
  • Lining and gusset position relative to the waist channel.
  • Sport, pool, sea or leisure use and the relevant care route.

Drawstring and waistband review

A waistband can look correct on a hanger while tightening unevenly when worn. Check the channel width, elastic recovery, cord movement and whether the waist rolls after repeated adjustment. Record the original and post-care measurements. If the cord is tied or heated at the ends, specify the finish and inspect it after wash.

Gusset stability

The gusset should remain aligned when the waist is tightened, loosened and worn during movement. Review the distance from the waist channel to the gusset, the lining attachment and the leg-opening tension. A shorter leg opening can pull the gusset downward if the pattern is not adjusted together with the rise.

Testing plan

Before a production commitment

  • Confirm the sample version, size, BOM and colour.
  • Check drawstring and waistband recovery after adjustment and care.
  • Review lining stability, opacity and gusset movement when wet.
  • Agree colourfastness and water-exposure tests for the selected materials.
  • Approve care instructions and claim wording against the test scope.

The test plan is not a performance certificate. Results must be reviewed on the named sample.

Customisation and limits

Colour, drawstring hardware, waist height, leg length, lining and packaging can be developed to the brief. Hardware must be checked for skin contact, corrosion, colour transfer and durability where relevant. The reference image is a development image, not stock or a fixed MOQ commitment.

Retail and e-commerce packaging

A drawstring swim short may be sold as a single unit, part of a swim set or part of a holiday bundle. The pack format changes the artwork, barcode, carton count and inspection plan. Clarify whether the product needs a hygienic liner, a care card, a polybag or a retail box before the packaging sample is prepared. Do not print care or performance claims until the material, gusset and test status are approved.

What to send first

Provide the reference style, target rise and leg length, outer fabric direction, waistband and drawstring requirements, size range, colour plan and intended channel. If the short will be sold as part of a set, include the matching top or bikini brief so the colour and material approvals can be aligned.

Buyer questions

Can the drawstring be hidden?

A hidden channel changes the pattern, elastic route and repair access. It can be reviewed, but the waistband construction must be sampled and tested.

Can we use metal tips or cord locks?

Yes, subject to a hardware specification and review for comfort, corrosion, colour transfer and care.

What should be checked after washing?

Check elastic recovery, channel distortion, cord condition, colour change and gusset alignment against the approved baseline.

Can the leg be shortened?

Yes, but shortening the leg can change tension at the opening and pull the gusset. A new fit sample is required.
